Welcome to my life!
I’ve decided to start to blog. And I welcome everyone that wants to read and follow my crazy normal life. I have three great kids, two boys and a girl. I’m married for close to 16 years and counting. I try everyday to make sure everyone is taken care of well.
I am a stay at home mom now. I left my job when I had our third child. I love to be a stay at home mom. My husband and I made that plan before our first was born. And luckily we have been able to support our household on his salary. I have worked part time in the past but for the past 2.5 years I’ve been home.
I love to be there to see my kids get off the bus, I love even more sometimes to see them get on the bus! My days are busy still with my two year old home. She is a crazy cute one. She loves animals and dolls. I try to get out with her almost daily for some kind of excursion. A lot of the time that just means a shopping trip to Shoprite. She’s fine with that!
Our afternoons are filled with homework, video games, orthodontist appointments. Spring brings track practices and soccer games. We don’t have the craziest schedule, I know people with much busier lives. But ours is enough for us.
I try to cook every night, keyword “try”. Sometimes I fail. I love shortcuts that make meals easier. I love to cook and have everyone say it’s so yummy. That doesn’t always happen. I’ve got one really adventurous eater, my oldest. My middle just started to be ok with my cooking. He now tries everything but likes very little. And my youngest will try a bite or two. She’s pretty good with pastas. And my other two hate pasta.
Tonight I am using a shortcut for dinner. I’m reheating (or fake roasting) a rotisserie chicken. All family members eat this kind of chicken so I can win with that.
My husband loves spinach. So I am making garlic sautéed fresh spinach. He will be so happy.
my kids not so much, so I am steaming plain broccoli for them.
On the side is Goya yellow rice, a family favorite. Kids and hubby love it.
I grew up having family dinners. It’s a tradition that I have carried on with my family. I love to sit around the table and watch and talk with my family. I like to always have a meat, veggie and carb on our dinner plates. This is how I grew up and this is how I want to raise my kids.
A family dinner doesn’t have to be fancy, family time is quality time. It’s not about what’s on your plate. It’s about the people around the table, the time spent together.
I want my children to always remember that, especially when I am serving them cereal for dinner on a crazy busy night!
